Mi país es larguísimo y delgado. Se ve casi como un bastón y estamos rodeados por mar y coordillera.
Su historia nos es muy antigua
Fuimos colonizados por los pocos españoles que se arriesgaron a pesar de descubrir que no existía el oro que tan febrilmente buscaban.
Encontraron otra clase de riquezas, y también una población que resistió la conquista po 300 años.
No se les dió fåcil, pero al final nació este Chile querido.
Tenemos una población bastante homogénea donde la mayoría somos descendientes de españoles e indígenas, y la mayor religión es el catolicismo.
Nos quedan unos pocos indígenas que son discriminados y que luchan por retener parte de sus tierras.
Hablamos el castellano y muchas de nuestras costumbres y folklore tiene origen español.
Un amigo boliviano me dijo un día que los chilenos no tenemos una identidad propia ya que no nos sentimos orgullosos de nuestra raza. No somos indígenas y quisiéramos ser europeos pero tampoco lo somos.
Y puede que haya parte de verdad, aunque creo que esto está cambiando.
Nuestra historia no es antigua, pero con los años hemos madurado y el orgullo de ser chilenos ha aumentado.
Chile es más conocido en el extranjero por el golpe militar del 73.
En los últimos años por sus productos de exportación como el vino y las frutas.
Somos un país relativamente estable y próspero dentro de latinoamérica.
Vivimos en una sociedad capitalista y muy influenciada por los Estados Unidos.
Somos afectados de cuando en cuando por terremotos, erupción de volcanes, inundaciones y sequías.
Hay muchísimas injusticias sociales y poca conciencia acerca de esto (aparte de los afectados por supuesto).
En fin…podríamos hacer una lista larga de problemas.Pero también podemos hacer una lista larga de cualidades.
Nuestra gente es amable, solidaria y con un humor fantástico.
Tenemos un país hermoso con diferentes tipos de paisajes, desde el desierto más seco del mundo, valles fantásticos para la agricultura, paisajes de sueño en el sur, y el exotismo de la isla de Pascua.

Its story is not very old
We were colonized by the few Spanish who risked their lives despite the discovering that there was no gold that they so feverishly sought.
They found another kind of wealth, and a population that resisted conquest for 300 years .
They had a tough time, but at last Chile was born.
We have a fairly homogeneous population where the majority are descendants of Spanish and indigenous, and the biggest religion is Catholicism.
We have a few Indians who are discriminated and that are struggling to retain some of their land.
We speak Spanish and many of our customs and folklore has Spanish origins.
A Bolivian friend told me one day that Chileans do not have an identity and we were not proud of our race. We are not indigenous and we would like to be European but neither are we.
And there may be some truth, but I think this is changing.
Our history is not old, but over the years we have matured and the pride of being Chilean has increased.

We live in a capitalist society and strongly influenced by the United States.
We are occasionally affected by earthquakes, volcanoes, floods and droughts.
There are many social injustices and lack of awareness about this (apart from those affected of course).
Anyway ... we could make a long list of problemas.Pero we can make a long list of qualities as well.
Our people are friendly, supportive and have a great mood.
We have a beautiful country with different types of landscapes, from the driest desert in the world, fantastic valleys for agriculture, dream landscapes in the south, and the exotic Easter Island.
